Michael Thomas

“Michael joined Gershman Mortgage in 2016 as a Vice President of Multifamily and Healthcare in the Denver Office. Michael has over 17 years of banking and lending experience.  Michael is a subject matter expert on all forms of affordable housing, acquisition/ rehabilitation as well as new construction and existing properties with and without Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC).  Prior to joining Gershman, Michael was a top-ranked banker nationally at First Citizens Bank, the largest family-controlled bank in the U.S. Michael graduated from George Mason University and completed credit analysis training by Omega at Bank of America. He graduated in July 2015 from the Graduate School of Banking – Colorado, with top honors, where he was the recipient of the “Future Leader Scholarship” award by the Colorado Banker’s Association. Michael currently serves on a four-year appointment with the City of Aurora Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Housing and Community Development where he is a voting member on the allocation of CDBG, HOME funds and ESG Grants for the City. In addition, Michael is serving in a two-year appointment as the Fall Conference Co-Chair for the Housing NOW Conference, hosted by Housing Colorado in Vail and one of the largest state hosted affordable housing conferences in the U.S. with nearly 900 attendees. Michael has been a lending and affordable housing expert speaker for Novogradac’s national LIHTC and Bond conferences in Las Vegas, San Francisco, and New Orleans.”
