At Gershman Mortgage, professional growth isn’t just encouraged, it’s celebrated. For some team members, that growth happens quickly and intentionally, fueled by curiosity, mentorship, and a drive to improve each day. This is one of those stories.
Since joining Gershman Mortgage in February 2024, Bonita Cash has wasted no time embracing new challenges and opportunities. In less than two years, she has grown through multiple roles, continuously learning and leaning into what’s next.
Bonita’s journey began as an Office Manager, where she built a strong foundation in branch operations and team support. From there, she transitioned into the role of Loan Officer Assistant, gaining deeper exposure to the lending process and client relationships. Today, she wears two hats, Loan Processor and Loan Officer, a testament to her work ethic and commitment to growth.
“I’ve always had a hunger for more,” she shared. “I never want to feel complacent in my position. There’s always room for growth, improvement, and opportunities to try something new.”
Every career has its turning points, and for Bonita, that moment came at the end of 2024. With encouragement from Branch Manager Mia Lindsey, she was challenged to truly bet on herself and take the leap into becoming a Loan Officer.
“That push changed everything,” Bonita said. “Within a month, I studied and passed my exam. That’s when I knew I was hitting my stride and beginning a brand new chapter.”
Professional development is a priority at Gershman Mortgage, and that support has played a vital role throughout Bonita’s journey. With ongoing training and educational opportunities, team members are encouraged to stay sharp and adapt in an ever-changing market.
Mentorship has also been a cornerstone of her success. Mia Lindsey (Branch Manager, NMLS #1423760) and Shannon Stewart (Loan Officer, NMLS #2071844) in particular, have made a lasting impact, not only as leaders, but as friends within the industry.
“They’ve supported me on both good days and hard ones,” Bonita said. “We have fun, and that matters. They’re incredible role models for what it means to be a great loan officer and to make a positive impact in our community.”
Growth and mobility don’t happen in isolation. What truly sets Gershman apart is its culture of collaboration and genuine care.
“There’s support from every department. I can call anyone, anytime, and they’re happy to help. When Gershman talks about community and family, they truly live it.”
Today, career growth means everything to Bonita. From building internal relationships to working closely with agents and industry partners, the experience has been both professionally and personally rewarding.
“That growth keeps me excited and energized,” she said. “It’s powerful and feeds my spirit every day.”
When asked about her favorite part of working at Gershman, she laughed and replied, “Can I say the swag and the parties?” But beyond the fun, it’s the sense of belonging that stands out most.
“Gershman has made me feel at home. They recognize each person’s role and truly show appreciation. You’re not just a number, you’re a valued employee.”
